Since my "Big Brother" John was known at school as Sqeze, my friends picked up on this and I became known as "The Sqeze Kid"!

I worked for the Central Electricity Generating Board for over 15 years, ending up as the deputy section head of the Legal and Insurance Section in the North West of England. I used to investigate accidents at power stations and negotiate with the insurers. Then, for reasons of ill-health, I was retired about 15 years ago - so now I'm a pensioner!

My main hobby and interest has always been my dogs (hence the photograph) and in the past I have competed in obedience competitions, run dog training classes and been on the committee of a German Shepherd Dog Club.

Recently, I have also been actively campaigning to try and make family doctors and other professionals aware of the problems that rape victims have in trying to secure a conviction against rapists. In England and Wales, there is less than a one in ten chance of a rapist being convicted. I enjoy writing and recently had an article published in the Journal of Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care. In March 2003, I had another article published in the Journal of Clinical Forensic Medicine and later that year in a national newspaper.

The poems that are on this site were my one and only attempt at putting my thoughts into verse and I don't think that they are particularly good. But if nothing else, I think that they convey the sense of despair that I was experiencing at the time.
