Self-cooling beer can

Intelligent food packaging is on its way to the supermarket near you - this means labels that track the temperature at which food has been stored and warn you by changing colour if the food has at some time become warm enough for bacteria to thrive, for example.

So far, so good, but does the world really need a self-cooling beer can?

I’d have thought we are producing enough waste in the form of standard aluminium cans, without adding a cooling unit to it.
