Work out at your local supermarket

trolley.jpgThe BBC reports that the British supermarket Tesco are introducing shopping trolleys next week (made by the German company, Wanzl) which monitor the shopper’s heart rate and the rate at which calories are being burnt as the trolley is pushed round the store. The shopper can even set the amount of resistance the trolley gives to being pushed, so that they can get a decent workout at the same time.

The trolleys cost £500 each, compared to £40 for a standard trolley. Tesco hasn’t yet decided what security measures will be applied to ensure that the trolleys don’t end up in the nearest sports studio instead of being returned to the trolley-park.
