Spiegel: “The madman in the White House”
The Spiegel is running an article about the madman in the White House – no, it’s not yet another article about G.W. Bush. This is about Richard Nixon, who discussed dropping atom bombs on N. Vietnam in 1969. The story results from over 500 hours of tape recordings which have been released by the US national archives.
One quote from the tapes (to Henry Kissinger, his national security adviser):
“The only place you and I disagree … is with regard to the bombing. You’re so goddamned concerned about the civilians and I don’t give a damn. I don’t care.”
