Gravators

gravator1You may have wondered why, when you comment on some blogs these days, you have a little symbol like the one to the left, displayed with your comment. It is because many blogs allow people to define a gravator (globally recognized avatar), which identifies them when they write a comment. The gravator can be a small photo of yourself, or a company logo, or any other graphic you care to use. If you haven’t set up a gravator you get the default symbol, which is often the little white and grey figure, that reminds me of playing Cluedo as a child, where the playing pieces were a similar shape, but with elongated necks.

There are several sites where you can register your gravator, which is usually free of charge and easy to to do. I used en.gravator.com for mine. Once you have set up your gravator there, it will appear in any comments you make on blogs which support this feature.
